‘BJP doesn’t consider Dogras capable of Government jobs’: Harsh Dev Singh

Harsh Dev Singh

Harsh Dev Singh, Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party had an exclusive interview with JK Media executive Ashish Kohli. He talked about

Q. BJP is confident it will win the elections next time and CM will too be from BJP. The next thing is Delimitation. How do you see these things?

Dreaming is not bad. Let them dream about all this. But has BJP ever observed the conditions of Jammu? What’s actually happening here? 7 years back your Government was formed in India as well as in Jammu and Kashmir but J&K has received nothing instead lost it’s Statehood. We saw Telangana had to put in so much of effort to get it’s Statehood and we lost that.

BJP made our State into an Union Territory which is free for everyone now. In fact, it was the only ‘Dogra State’. Our jobs, lands and every other thing has been taken away. People from outside can make Domicile and buy property here. In my area of Ramnagar, people from Bihar and Chattisgarh have become postmen. This means BJP doesn’t consider Dogras capable of Government jobs.

Talking about Delimitation, the first thing that comes to mind of anyone especially Panthers Party is that both the Tracts (khittas) should have equal allotments. After abolition of article 370, we all have observed the inequality of jobs between Jammu and Kashmir be it Fire Services or Assistant Professors. Not even one job post of Clinical Assistant professor was provided to Jammu. Similarly, all 76 posts of Work Supervisor were given to Kashmir.

Panthers Party demands equitable treatment with Jammu. We aren’t against Kashmir’s tracts but we want ours. BJP is making grounds on 2011 census for seats in Jammu. Let me remind them census will not be considered during elections. According to Jammu and Kashmir reorganisation Act, there will be a total of 90 seats which will be divided on the basis of population, physical features, facilities of communication and convenience of public.

Our geographical area is 26,293 square kilometres while that of Kashmir is 15,948 square kilometres. Keeping all these factors in mind except population which might be more in Kashmir, Jammu deserves more seats or at least same number of seats. But BJP is in line of blossoming Lotus in Kashmir which is not possible.

You can see Kashmir has good power supply, water supply and other basic facilities whereas Jammu which is burning in summers doesn’t have electricity. This is because of the Political Dominance in the valley with 46 seats and only 37 seats in Jammu.

Deputy Chief Minister of BJP said the 24 seats reserved for PAK occupied Kashmir should have 35% of them de-freeze for the migrants. BJP says this matter would be raised in front of Delimitation Commission. They actually haven’t understood the work of the Commission.

Long back there were a total of 114 seats in J&K which was decreased to 90 after reserving 24 seats. BJP leader Kavinder Gupta now says that the party will request Delimitation Commission to provide them 8 out of those 24 seats. This is shocking! They should understand this isn’t some family rule here (sarcastic smile). Calling yourself champion and and intellectually bankrupted!

Kavinder Gupta should have raised the topic in All Party Meeting in front of PM Modi. He should have asked to amend J&K reorganisation Act but he didn’t. BJP leaders are unfit for governance and unfit for representing Jammu. Our region definitely needs educated and understanding leaders.

Q. Bheem Singh Ji was representing Jammu from Panthers Party. Did he say something in the All Party Meeting?

Bheem Singh did raise Jammu issues. But a single person cannot speak much within limited time. If more people would have spoken, issues would be clear. Anyways more leaders were called from Kashmir to listen to their matter. Their voice was heavier than us. Jammu’s public now needs to understand how we are being deprived of our rights and ignored. The youth is in anger and has to take a stand.

Q. BJP is dreaming for the next CM. Are you ready to teach them laws?

My classes are always ready for them. First of all they need to learn about Panch and Sarpanch because they aren’t even ready for Panchayat elections. BJP uses Media for its selfish needs. The day when Jammu gets effective leadership, it will be back on track and Panthers Party is ready to take that responsibility.
