Continuing his commitment to provide better development and civic activities to the people of Jammu City, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Gandhi Nagar of Ward No: 20 and Kick started the construction / renovation work of all the drains in the Valmiki Colony Gandhi Nagar, Jammu alongwith Kavinder Gupta ex Deputy Chief Minister J&K, Vikram Randhawa Ex- MLC, Sh. Baldev Singh Billowaria Chairman Health and Sanitation Committee JMC, Vinay Gupta Distt President BJP, Rahul Kumar Councillor of ward No: 20,Neeraj (Lucky) Puri Councillor of ward no: 54 also Gandhi Nagar Mandal President BJP, Sandeep Gupta District Executive Member, S. Satbir Singh, ward president, Rachit Khosla Mandal Secretary, Vijay Verma Senior Leader BJP, Gharu Bhatti President Valmiki Colony Gandhi Nagar, Sandeep Gupta & other residents of the Locality, Deep Kumar Sharma Assistant Executive Engineer, Danish Kotwal Junior Engineer of Engineering Division No: III and concerned contractor were also present there.
Mayor said that it was the long pending demands of the residents of the Locality which has been delayed only due to non availability of required labourers, construction material & other issues on account of lockdown & corona virus pandemic. This upgradation work of drains has now been started with the active efforts of the concerned Councilor & engineering wing with an estimate cost of Rs. 29.56 lakhs only & directed the engineers & contractor to complete the work within stipulated time period by using best quality construction material & upto the satisfaction of the locals. Sh. Kavinder Gupta Ex Deputy Chief Minister & Sh. Vikram Randhawa EX MLC also spoke on the occasion and assured that they alongwith all his team members are committed in making Gandhi Nagar Constituency really a Model one by providing more & more development & other facilities to the people at their doorsteps and also appreciated the work done by JMC under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mayor who is doing his best by taking into confidence all the elected councilors irrespective of any political party for the last two years which includes installation of LED Street Lights in every corner of the City. Commissioning of open GYMS with requisite Machinery in every ward of the city, beautification of rotaries, installation of colourful fountains in main rotaries of the city, holding of mega plantation drive in 2019 and this year with the active support of every Councillor, starting of mega projects which were in pipeline for the last so many years, streamlining the working of building, birth and death sections of JMC through online system and taking Jammu City towards great heights in terms of development with the Slogan “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas” by giving another slogan “Badalta Jammu Nikharta Jammu” and give it in practical shape on grounds. They appeal to the General Public to come forward & co-operate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in all types of development activities undertaken by the department in making Jammu a neat, clean and green city.
Earlier Mayor alongwith Sh. Kapil Singh Chib Councillor of ward no: 64 also visited the various localities of the ward met with the locals, listened to their grievances regarding overflowing of Nallahas & drains during the recent rains & the dirty water even enters in the low lying areas, creating lot of hardships for the residents. He directed the concerned on spot to deploy more men and machinery for disilting mentioned Nallah / deep drains. He also inaugurated the installation of water cooler at main Bazar Roop Nagar areas of ward no: 64 on the request of the Market association & locals to fulfill their demands. Mayor said that JMC has already taken up the job of commissioning water coolers in each ward of the city at appropriate places, so that General Public any get pure drinking water in the humid and hot conditions. He also appeals to the shopkeepers association of the Roop Nagar area to take care of this water cooler properly to avoid any type of theft & damage from anti-social elements.
