Continuing his commitment to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu City, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today conducted an extensive tour in the different areas of Bikram Chowk, Chand Nagar & its adjoining areas of ward No: 19 alongwith Ashwani Kumar Executive Engineer, Deep Kumar Sharma Assistant Executive Engineer, Danish Kotwal Junior Engineer of Engineering Division-III & other Field staff of Health Section of Jammu Municipal Corporation, met with the locals & representatives of Market association who put forth their demands regarding development work, better sanitation, renovation & disilting of Nallahas flowing in their locality. Mayor listened to them with great patience and assured that all their genuine issues would be resolved on priority basis. Mayor went round the Municipal shopping complex situated near police Chowki Ware House Jammu where printing press of leading Hindi Newspaper “Amar Ujala as well as other business establishments of different categories are functioning. He observed that the said Municipal Building is in bad condition and directed the concerned Engineering Division to take immediate measures for proper face lifting of the whole building which is situated in the heart of City. Various other shopkeepers including Ashok Kumar (Prop M/s Lambardar-da-Dhaba) of the Nehru Market drew the attention of the Mayor towards water logging & insanitary condition prevailing in their Market due to broken Nallah and non existence of proper slope and said that large number of customers from all over the J&K visits this Market for shopping on daily basis and faces lot of hardships while passing through this area. Mayor at once asked the concerned Executive Engineer to make a full proof development plan for renovation of this Nallah and complete it within stipulated time period.
Besides this, the Mayor alongwith his team also conducted the tour of Municipal Market situated Opp Hotel Revera near Chand Nagar, Jammu and observed that a number of shops were in dilapidated conditions and rain water is leaking from the roof of the shops. He also took notice of this and directed aforesaid wing of engineering Section to renovate this Municipal Market with best quality material and take other necessary measures so that this Market be developed as a Modern Market and also directed the Field Staff of Health Section to remove the waste material, garbage, silt etc lying here & there. He also appeal to the General public to cooperate with the Jammu Municipal corporation in all the development activities undertaken by the department, do not throw garbage, filth, polythene etc in the Public lanes, drains & Nallahas, adopt the habit of Segregation of dry & wet waste separately, do not use single used plastics, polythene carry bags so that Jammu can be made really a smart City.
