JAMMU, FEBRUARY 05 :Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today tabled the Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Rules, 2023 in the Legislative Assembly, marking an important step towards strengthening legal and regulatory compliance in the Union Territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Rules, 2023, presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, have been framed under the Anand Marriage Act of 1909, making the registration of Anand marriages a statutory requirement.
The move aims to bring clarity, uniformity and legal recognition to Anand marriages, while ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping in accordance with existing law. Officials say the rules will help address long-standing procedural gaps and simplify the registration process for affected communities.
By tabling the rules in the Assembly, the Omar Abdullah–led government has underlined its focus on regulatory discipline and legal compliance. The step comes amid a broader debate in the House on governance reforms and administrative strengthening in Jammu and Kashmir.
The government maintains that such measures are essential to modernising governance frameworks, improving service delivery and ensuring that laws are implemented effectively on the ground.
