Unpaid for 16 months, the employees of Jammu and Kashmir cements limited said that they are on verge of starvation as they have not even a single penny in their pockets.
Employees body demanded early release of the pending wages ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha and sought personal intervention from LG G C Murmu.
The employees said that Jammu and Kashmir cements limited their salaries are pending since past 16 months now which has resulted in immense hardships for them in challenging times of COVID-19.
They said that they are not able to pay the school fee of their children with the result their kids would be disqualified from their respective schools. “Believe us, we are on the verge of begging and starvation,” they said.
The employees demanded early release of pending wages ahead of the forthcoming Eid and sought attention from LG of Jammu and Kashmir so that the employees will have signs of relief and ease to their family members.
“If the pending wages are released well on time, we will be able to pay the outstanding fee of our wards at an earliest so that their future is saved. We are hopeful that LG Murmu pays heed our demands and addresses our issue before the Eid festival,” they said
