District administration Jammu is all set to make elaborate arrangements for Jhiri Mela organised every year to commemorate sacrifice of farmer saint Baba Jitoo.
The mela will commence on 22 November and will continue for a week till 30 November.
It is celebrated every year to pay respects to Baba Jitoo. The devotees from North India flock in millions to pay obeisance to Baba Jitto at historic shrine of Baba Jitto and his daughter- Bua Kauri.
All the arrangements are being by the government departments for the convenience of people and the devotees.
This historic Mela, connected with the sacrifice of a hardworking and legendary Dogra farmer, Baba Jitto, and his minor daughter, hailing from Aghar Jitto near Katra, falls on Kartik Purnima every year.
Lakhs of people hailing from J&K, Punjab, Himachal, Harayana, Delhi and other states participate in this week long fair.
