Jammu University students protest for online exams and mass promotion
Jammu University students today protested outside Polytechnic College and Parade College, Jammu. Raising slogans against the administration, they demanded online exams and mass promotions for backlog and first semester students.
One of the protestors of backlog exams said “Our backlog exams were scheduled in June 2020 but due to Covid-19 got rescheduled in January 2021. The Administration informed us about mass promotion but haven’t cleared about it till now. We have already wasted 8 months. The Administration says that the orders will be provided by the University, so what’s the purpose of all the officials? They should take some action for us. We just want to get our degree by any manner be it online or offline exams.”
The students of first semester of parade college demanded mass promotion. According to them, it was unfair to give promotion to the students of third and fifth semester while they were left out.
“We have been protesting since a long time now. The Administration should at least listen to us. Students of thirds and fifth semester have been promoted. Why haven’t we? Are we different? We’ve not been vaccinated yet and can be prone to Covid-19. We’ll keep protesting until we get promoted to next semester.” Said a protestor.
“Every time we try to talk to the officials, we are ignored. We talk in person but no action is taken. This time we’ll talk collectively so that our voice is clear. We must get mass promotion like every other student in the University.” added another.
