Jammu: The city of Toll Plazas

Jammu, a city famous for its temples has had so much growth in the number of Toll Plazas that soon it will be known as the ‘City of Toll Plazas’. Entering the city with the Lakhanpur Toll Plaza, one has to pay tolls at Sarore Toll Plaza, then Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota and ones who have to travel further have to pay toll for the Chenani Nashri Tunnel Toll Plaza.
We all have heard about necessity of Toll Plazas for development but haven’t seen any in Jammu city! The broken lanes of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and other regions are same since years. Do these tolls as taxes even make any difference?

When compared to other cities like Kashmir, Jammu has more Toll Plazas. Tolls have increased and now travellers have to pay for both the sides equally. If rumours are to be believed, soon a new Toll Plaza would be built on the way to Akhnoor and if this happens, the reaction of daily Jammu-Akhnoor travellers would be worth watching!
