Rich tributes were paid by the people of J&k to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary in a function held at Mubarak Mandi, Jammu. It was organised by Gandhi Global family. Various students from different schools of Jammu were invited to the celebrations to acquaint them with Mahatma Gandhi’s contributions to the struggle for the achievement of freedom from the colonial yoke, his sustained campaign against social injustice, racism and suppression of the under-privileged sections and his unending pursuit for establishment of a truly secular and harmonious society. Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma and ministers of different political parties were present during the ceremony.
Meanwhile in Vijaypur, Jammu, a rally was organised by the school students in order to aware the people of the importance of cleanliness on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Raman Chalotra, tehsildar Vijaypur was also present during the event.
A NGO in Jammu also celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and PM Lal Bahadur Shastri. Stationeries were distributed among the children during the event.
In Kathua, schools students and staff members took out a rally under ‘ Swachata hi Sewa’ pakhwada to realize the dream of the Clean India of Father of Nation on his 150th birth anniversary.
