J-K: Teacher, sarpanch among 3 die of cardiac arrest

A teacher and a sarpanch were among three persons who died due to cardiac arrest during the past 24 hours in the Kashmir valley.


The doctors have already advised people suffering from heart ailment to take extra precaution in winter, when chances of sudden heart attacks increases due to severe cold.


With these deaths, a total of 13 persons, mostly youth, died due to cardiac arrest in the valley during the past about ten days.


A private school teacher identified as Mohammad Ramzan Rather suffered a cardiac arrest at his Sheikh Mohalla Ajas, Bandipora, home on Monday morning. However, other family members immediately rushed him to hospital where he was declared brought dead.


A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Sarpanch identified as Shaban Shah, a resident of Bon-Numbal, Mattan in south Kashmir district of Anantnag died due to massive cardiac arrest at his home on Sunday.

A health employee identified as Abdul Aziz Bhat also suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his home at village Durpora in Anantnag. He was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) president Dr Nissar ul Hassan and other experts have warned increase in the heart attacks in the valley during winter due to severe cold. However, they expressed concern over the increase in the heart attacks among the youth.
