Is import of poultry products banned in J&K? Know now

In the wake of bird flu in India, the J&K Government banned the import of poultry products in the UT. No vehicle carrying poultry products will be allowed to enter J&K. Also the J&K police have been directed to not allow any vehicle to enter J&K.
An order has been issued by Navin K. Choudhary, principal secretary, agriculture and animal husbandry department. “No live bird-like chic, broiler, the parent will be allowed to import into J&K. Also any type of processed or unprocessed meat is also banned in J&K” the order reads. The order will come into effect from today till 14th January. After which a review meeting will take place and then only the government will decide to lift the ban or to continue the ban.

The J&K authorities have said that till now no case of bird death has been reported by bird flu in the UT but there are reports that many crows have died in the Rajouri district to which authorities have said that they have collected the samples and have sent them to labs to verify whether these deaths are related to bird flu or not.
