India recorded 7,992 new COVID-19 cases, 393 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall caseload to 3,46,682,736 and the total death toll to 4,75,128, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Saturday. The country also recorded 9,265 recoveries today.
A decrease of 1,666 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 93,277.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.36 percent, the highest since March last year.
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 0.64 percent and it has been less than two percent for the last 68 days. The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 0.71 percent and it has been below one percent for the last 27 days, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,41,14,331, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.37 percent, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 131.99 crore.
Covid 3rd wave in J&K: Reports 5818 new COVID-19 positive cases; 04 deaths today
Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded a single-day spike of 5,818 new COVID-19 cases- 4,066 in Kashmir and 1,752 in Jammu-even as four new deaths were reported in the Jammu division in the last 24 hours.
The case tally has risen to 3,72,669 while the death toll jumped to 4,579-2,347 in Kashmir and 2,232 in Jammu, officials said.
A total of 341854 patients have recovered from the disease so far including 1255 in the last 24 hours.
Active cases have surged to 26236-Jammu 9336 in Jammu and 16900 in Kashmir.

J&K: Two Govt Hospitals Declared dedicated COVID-19 hospitals
The government on Tuesday declared SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina, and Sub District Hospital Sopore as dedicated hospitals for COVID-19 treatment.
Besides, SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bernina would function as a dedicated COVID Hospital for treatment of Maternity Child Care and Orthopedic COVID patients, reads a communication sent to Principal SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina, Srinagar and Director Health Services Kashmir by Deputy Director (Planning) Health and Medical Education Department.
“All the cases should be treated and operated in the respective health institutions while strictly following COVID-19 treatment protocol as referring of COVID-19 patients in non-COVID hospitals may pose a high risk of virus transmission,” the communication underlines.
