India has reported 76,472 new positive cases of coronavirus and 1,021 deaths in the last 24 hours. With new cases, the total number of infected patients in the country has surpassed 34 lakh mark, as per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday morning.
The country’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 34,63,973, while the death toll has mounted to 62,550. Of the total cases, 26,48,998 have been successfully treated while one case has been migrated from the country. There are 7,52,424 active cases of Covid-19 in India.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak in the country with Covid-19 tally crossing seven lakh mark. The total number of positive cases in the state has climbed to 7,47,995 and 23,775 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.
Tamil Nadu has become the second-worst hit in the country with 4,09,238 Covid-19 cases and 7,050 deaths. Andhra Pradesh is placed at the third spot having reported 4,03,616 confirmed cases and 3,714 deaths, followed by Karnataka (3.18 lakh cases, 5,368 deaths) and Delhi (1,69,412 cases and 4,389 deaths).

The total number of samples tested up to August 27 is 3,94,77,848 including 9,01,338 samples tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said today.
India’s recovery rate rises to 76.28%
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data on Friday, a total of 60,177 have recovered in the last 24 hours and the recovery rate in India has touched 76.28 per cent.
On Friday, the Union Health Ministry said India has tested more than 9 lakh Covid-19 samples each day for the second consecutive day, keeping a sharp focus on “Test, Track and Treat” strategy of the Centre.
