India logs 10,302 fresh COVID cases, 267 more deaths

India’s COVID-19 infection tally rose by 10,302 in a day to reach 3,44,99,925 while the number of active cases declined to 1,24,868 during the same period, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

The death toll climbed to 4,65,349 with 267 more fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

Active cases decreased by 1,752 in 24 hours and now comprise 0.36 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020. Also, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.29 per cent, the highest since March last year, the Health Ministry said.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 43 days in a row and less than 50,000 for 146 consecutive days.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.96 per cent. It has been less than 2 per cent for the last 47 days. The weekly positivity rate was 0.93 per cent. It has been below two per cent for the last 57 days.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,39,09,708 while the case fatality rate was 1.35 per cent.

So far, over 115.79 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country under the nationwide COVID-19 inoculation drive.

India’s COVID-19 case tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 this year and three crore on June 23.

J&K: 85 people Died of COVID in 24 Days

In Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Jammu division, once again, the process of death of corona infected patients has started. So far this month, 85 patients have died. Of these, 54 are residents of the Jammu division. Many of the patients who died were those who had taken both doses. However, many of them were already suffering from some disease.

According to the National Health Mission data, eight more corona infected patients died on Monday. Four were residents of the Jammu division and four from the Kashmir division. In the Jammu division, two died in the Jammu district. A 65-year-old man from Akhnoor, a Gudha Brahmin, was also among those killed. The maximum number of deaths this month, thirty patients, occurred in the Jammu district. All of them were residents of different areas of the Jammu district. Twelve patients had taken both doses of the corona vaccine. Apart from this, four were residents of Udhampur district, while four were residents of Rajouri, two Doda, five Kathua, one Kishtwar, four Poonch, two Ramban and two Reasi. Samba is the only district where not a single patient died.

In Kashmir, seven corona infected patients died in the Srinagar district while four in Baramulla, eight in Budgam, three in Pulwama, four in Kupwara, four in Anantnag, one in Bandipora, one in Kulgam. On the other hand, not a single patient died in Shopian and Ganderbal districts. In the second wave of corona infection, the maximum number of patients died in the Jammu district.

Although the number of patients who died is less, the maximum number of patients are dying in the Jammu district. About 33 per cent of the total deaths occurred in the Jammu district. Principal of GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudan, says that many of the patients who died after taking both doses were already suffering from other diseases. She asked all to follow Corona appropriate behaviour. She said that only by following all the protocols one could avoid the third wave.

J&K Logs 5394 new COVID Cases, 8 Deaths; Crosses 4 Lakh mark

Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded the highest ever single-day spike of 5394 new COVID-19 cases- 3349 in Kashmir and 2045 in Jammu-even as four new deaths each were reported in Kashmir and Jammu divisions in the last 24 hours.

The case tally has risen to 4,02,596 while the death toll jumped to 4,613-2,360 in Kashmir and 2,253 in Jammu, officials said.

A total of 353374 patients have recovered from the disease so far including the 3643 in the last 24 hours.

Active cases have surged to 44,609-13,542 in Jammu and 31,067 in Kashmir.

Admin issues New Guidelines for Passengers Arriving at J&K

Passengers who have taken both the vaccine doses and come by air, rail and road in the state will no longer have to undergo corona test. However, the passengers will have to show the vaccination certificate for this. The State Executive Committee of the Disaster Management Department, chaired by Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, took this decision while reviewing the current scenario of Corona in the state.

However, there will be a corona test for passengers with symptoms of Corona. In addition, District Deputy Commissioners have been asked to ensure compliance with COVID protocols in the respective districts. Pregnant women have been allowed to work from home in all offices, apart from ensuring that the employees follow the two-yard distance. Employees with disabilities have also been given the option of working from home.

Restrictions on non-essential movement will continue across the state from 2 pm on Friday to 6 am on Monday. Other points in the manual remain the same as before. In this, provision has been made for online education in educational institutions, and orders have been given to gather only 25 people in indoor and outdoor at one place.

Apart from this, only 25 people can attend a marriage at the banquet hall. In addition, there will be a ban on non-essential movement from 9 pm to 6 am every day.
