Huge quantity of polythene bags seized in J-K’s Kathua

Banned polythene was seized from a truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

Reacting on specific information a joint team of Anti Polythene Check Post Lakhanpur headed by Munish Gupta Range Officer halted a truck bearing registration number PB06 AK/ 3723 coming from outside UT.

During physical checking it was found to be loaded with 10 Nags/ 250 Kgs of banned Polythene Carry Bags below 50 microns in thickness concealed under cement Bags.

The said truck alongwith banned Polythene carry bags and cement bags were seized as per SRO 45 of 2017 dated 03.02.2017 read with different provisions of J&K Non-Biodegradable Material (Management, Handing and Disposal) Act, 2007 and J&K Non- Biodegradable Material (Management, Handing and Disposal) Rules, 2009. Request for initiation of Confiscation proceedings in the instant case also made before the Regional Director J&K Pollution Control Board Jammu (Authorized Officer) under rules. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Rahul Singh IFS DFO Kathua
