Srinagar, Jan 19: A Western Disturbance is expected to impact Jammu and Kashmir later this week, with South Kashmir likely to bear the brunt of the weather system, Kashmir Weather Watch said on Sunday.
According to the advisory, the disturbance will remain mainly focused over South Kashmir from the late night of January 22 till the morning of January 24. During this period, the higher reaches of South Kashmir, including the Pir Panjal Range, are likely to witness heavy to very heavy snowfall.
The plains of South Kashmir are also expected to receive heavy snowfall, with isolated areas facing very heavy snow.
Meanwhile, North and Central Kashmir are likely to experience moderate snowfall, with the possibility of heavy spells at a few places during the same period.
Authorities and residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially in snow-prone and higher-altitude areas, and to follow official advisories during the forecast period.
