A spell of rains on Thursday created havoc in parts of Jammu region while the city was completely waterlogged. Rains exposed the Jammu Municipal Corporation as city came to standstill due to waterlogging and over flowing of drains.
WARD no. 14 Nitco Line Talab Tillo is one of the worst-hit areas. Residents are also angry with the R&B Department over the dilapidated condition of the roads. “Flooded roads and lanes are traps for motorists as there are potholes and open manholes at many places,” said a local.
“Waterlogging is a chronic problem and gets aggravated during rain. Despite functional sewerage costing crores of rupees, the problem persists as the sewage overflows during rain,” said a resident of the area. “A majority of the roads in the city are in a poor condition and need blacktopping. The potholes are a major threat for the drivers as they get filled with rainwater, he added.
