Senior leaders of JKPCC Wednesday blamed BJP for the soaring hardship of public and anti-people decisions of J&K Government. A meeting of District Jammu Urban functionaries held at Party office here today under the chairmanship of former Minister and Vice President JKPCC Raman Bhalla and was organized by District Jammu President Yogesh Sawhney. Leaders blamed the BJP for its total failure to address the genuine problems of the people. The meeting took stock of the problems of people being aggravated by the Govt at the behest of ruling BJP, by series of anti-people and anti-youth decisions. The Govt at the Centre and UT administration is choosing the opportunity to take certain decisions against the wishes and aspirations and interests of the general people, taking advantage of the situation on account of COVID crisis, forcing the people to protest and come on roads.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the continuous spike on COVID situation and the great mismanagement and mishandling of Govt on various fronts. The party expressed concern over the panic amongst the people due to lack of proper facilities in the Quarantine Centres and in the hospitals even after over five months of the situation. The Govt should immediately wake up to the situation, ensure better coordination at all levels and drastically improve and ensure adequate facilities in the Quarantine Centres and upgrade facilities in the hospitals include testing, before the situation goes out of control.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla took upon the BJP Govt for the anti-people decisions of installation of series of toll plazas right from Lakhanpur, Sarore, Akhnoor, Ramban including Ban Nagrota and described it the highly objectionable move of the Modi Govt. Already 9% taxes of new vehicles, heavy taxes on petrol, diesel and unprecedented hike of all items, has broken the backbone of the transporters and common people. He demanded immediate roll back of toll plazas, in the larger interests of the common people. He said revocation of SRO 202 is a major relief to the employees recruited under this provision and their families, it will also be a breather for those aspiring for the government jobs, the only viable source of sustenance in industrially under-developed J&K.
Bhalla said youth of Jammu are very frustrated due to the anti- youth approach and decisions of the present dispensation. The unemployment is at its peak and the already working youth on daily wager basis, casual, need based and temporary arrangements in all departments are denied their due wages and deprived of benefits of regularisation despite repeated assurances and promises by the BJP top leaders. He opposed the J&K government decision to subsume engineering wings of various departments into Public Works Department saying the move will create too much of mess and confusion on the ground. He said there will be joblessness because of the merger decision and the technical staff who are presently working in different departments are bound to face hierarchical issues in addition to the hiccups in their career progression. Bhalla expressed surprise over the rush in taking policy decisions more so when the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha has taken his charge recently and shall require some breathing time and space to understand the working and the mandate of different government departments.“In this situation taking such hasty decisions are bound to impede developmental activities in J&K which are already at their lowest ebb,” he said.
Bhalla questioned the recent order issued by the Department of Custodian Evacuee Property prohibiting the exercise of legal rights granted to the displaced persons of 1947 from POJK by virtue of Section 3-A of Agrarian Reforms Act, whereby occupancy rights were given to them with right to transfer such rights by sale, mortgage, gift or exchange and demanded immediate withdrawal of anti DP order. Hitting hard at the arbitrary and illegal order of custodian department banning the exercise of their rights without prior NOC, Bhalla said that this order is patently illegal and arbitrary being contrary and contradictory to the law framed by legislature and totally against the interests and rights of refugees.
