After Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Sonamarg in Ganderbal, tourist resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has also been closed by authorities for day picnickers on Saturdays and Sundays to prevent possible COVID-19 resurgence.
An order issued to this effect by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar while invoking the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and National Disaster Management Act 2005, said that only those visitors having advance hotel bookings and those possessing COVID-19 vaccination certificates or negative reports not olfer than 48 hours shall be allowed to visit Gulmarg on weekends.
Besides, the enforcement squads already set up, shall impose fine of Rs 1000 on visitors found roaming without masks.
SDM Gulmarg and SDPO Tangmarg have been asked to enforce the order with immediate effect.
Pertinently, Pahalgam and Sonmarg were also closed for day picnickers on weekends to prevent a possible COVID-19 resurgence.
Top JeM Pakistani terrorist killed in Pulwama encounter
In view of the Pulwama encounter that took place on Saturday morning, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar informed that the topmost Pakistani terrorist has been killed in the encounter.
Kumar said, “Topmost Pakistani terrorist affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) Lamboo was killed in today’s encounter. Identification of the second terrorist is being ascertained.”
“Mohd Ismal Alvi alias Lamboo alias Adnan was from a family of Masood Azhar. He was involved in the conspiracy and planning of the Lethpora attack. He stayed with Adil Dar till the day of fidayeen attack, a viral video of Adil Dar had his voice in it”, said IGP Kashmir.
Kumar later congratulated the Indian Army and Awantipora Police for their support.
Earlier today, security forces gunned down two terrorists during an encounter here at Hangalmarg in the Dachigam forest area and recovered AK and M4 rifles from their possession, police said.
The joint operation, which was launched this morning, is still in progress.

Fish farm in Ganderbal damaged by cloudburst
A fish farm has sustained substantial loss due to a cloud burst in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, officials said on Saturday.
A private fish farm at Gutlibagh, in Ganderbal, was damaged due to the cloudburst and lost all fishes, they added.
However, there was no report of any loss of human life in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Private Fish Farm owners have appealed to the Government, especially Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production & Fisheries Department, and also Director Fisheries J&K to consider an Insurance scheme for private fish farms, to safeguard, against damages due to natural disasters, including floods.
Kulgam youth secures All India Rank 2 in IES-2020, LG extends good wishes
A youth from south Kashmir’s Kulgam has achieved a rare feat by securing a 2nd all India rank in the Indian Economic Service(IES) 2020 drawing appreciation by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
LG Sinha while confirming the development on his official Twitter handle, congratulated Tanveer Ahmad Khan, a resident of Nigeenpora Kund area of the south Kashmir district on his achievement.
The LG said he has “always believed that the youth of J&K are inherently capable & full of potential”.
