10 Faculty Posts Vacant, ₹260 Cr Grant Released
Jammu: The Government has informed the Legislative Assembly that out of 11 approved offsite campuses of the University of Jammu, seven are currently functional across the Union Territory, while four campuses announced earlier are yet to be operationalized.
Replying to a question raised by Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, the Higher Education Department provided detailed campus-wise, faculty-wise and budgetary information regarding the functioning and strengthening of these offsite campuses.
Operational & Non-Operational Campuses
As per official data, the following campuses are operational:
• Bhaderwah Campus – Established in 2006
• Kathua Campus – Established in 2006
• Udhampur Campus – Established in 2007
• Kishtwar Campus – Established in 2008
• Poonch Campus – Established in 2008
• Reasi Campus – Established in 2008
• Ramnagar Campus – Established in 2008
The following campuses were announced in 2008 but remain non-operational:
• Patnitop Campus
• Surankote Campus
• Billawar Campus
• Doda Campus
Posts of Rector/Director Under Examination
The Government stated that the proposal for creation of posts of Rector/Director and additional teaching faculty for functional offsite campuses is presently under examination in the Higher Education Department.
₹260 Crore Grant-in-Aid for FY 2025–26
For the financial year 2025–26, the Higher Education Department has allocated a consolidated Grant-in-Aid of ₹260 crore to the University of Jammu to meet its approved expenditure requirements.
The grant is released in lump sum and is not earmarked campus-wise at the departmental level. Internal allocation and utilization of funds, including for academic programmes at offsite campuses, is carried out by the University.

• Kathua Campus: Assistant Professor posts in Computer Science and Management Studies fully filled.
• Bhaderwah Campus: Several Associate Professor posts vacant in English, Life Sciences, Computer Science and Management Studies.
• Reasi Campus: Sociology post vacant.
• Ramnagar Campus: Sociology post vacant.
• Poonch Campus: Professor and Assistant Professor posts in Gojri & Pahari vacant.
• Udhampur Campus: Commerce Assistant Professor post vacant.

The Government said coordinated measures are being undertaken with the University of Jammu to strengthen academic, administrative and infrastructural functioning of all operational offsite campuses, with specific reference to Ramnagar Campus.

• Adoption of innovative pedagogical practices
• Promotion of research and innovation culture
• Strict adherence to academic calendar
• Periodic monitoring of teaching-learning processes
• Faculty development initiatives
• Student-centric academic activities
• Phased implementation of smart classrooms
• Effective utilization of e-resources
• Digitization of records and administrative streamlining
• Time-bound maintenance and upgradation of classrooms, laboratories and libraries
• Financial planning in conformity with prescribed norms
The Higher Education Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring balanced academic growth, optimal utilization of resources and equitable expansion of higher education infrastructure across Jammu & Kashmir.
