Srinagar, Dec 29 : A three-storied residential house at Umar Colony, Lal Bazar, was completely engulfed in flames on Friday morning, officials said.

The State Fire Control Room in Batamaloo received the emergency call at 8:42 AM, following which fire tenders from Hazratbal and Nowshehra stations were immediately dispatched. Given the congested locality and absence of an immediate water source, additional reinforcements from Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters were also deployed.

Fire crews found the entire structure fully involved in flames on arrival. Prompt firefighting operations, led by DFO Headquarters Muzaffar Ali Bhat under the supervision of Deputy Director Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, successfully contained the fire to the affected house, preventing damage to neighboring properties.

The house was completely gutted, but no casualties or injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
