While the claims may be tall on the success of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in the country but the ground reality is all together different. The conditions of most of toilets of the prime hospital of Jammu province- Government Medical College and Hospital are dirty.
The unhygienic conditions make them a perfect breeding ground for germs. However, authorities concerned are busy passing the buck, are least bothered.
Pertinently, the GMC hospital Jammu caters to thousands of patients from across the province every day, but when it comes to sanitation, there is lot to be desired.
The bathrooms in the hospital are overflowing with dirty water. The pipes are leaking, the faucets don’t work and toilets smell as is these have not been cleaned for months, doors are broken and without latches.
The toilets of the hospital are in pathetic condition for the last some months. Most of the toilets and washrooms dirty with the washbasins brimming with wastewater, and filth scattered all over the floors.
Poor upkeep of toilets and washrooms was posing a serious threat to their health.
“The sanitation staff must do their work sincerely,” an attendant told, toilets in the hospitals are supposed to be cleaner and hygienic but it’s other way around in the hospital. Everyone is under the risk of infection, if the hospital administration will not improve the cleaning procedures.
