New Delhi, Dec 4 : Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Hon’ble MP Baramulla, Er Rashid, delivered a deeply meaningful and conciliatory address in Parliament today, urging the Government of India and all Members of the House to approach the issues of Jammu & Kashmir with humanity, sincerity and moral responsibility rather than political expediency.
Speaking from the floor of the House, Er Rashid reminded the nation that while leaders often speak of bridging the “distance of hearts” with the people of Jammu & Kashmir, “nothing substantive has changed on the ground,” and the suffering of communities across J&K and Ladakh remains unaddressed.
Calling for collective wisdom, he appealed to both the Treasury and Opposition benches: “All issues of Jammu & Kashmir must be viewed through a humanitarian angle, not a political one.”
Er Rashid urged the Central Government to initiate an inclusive dialogue with Jammu & Kashmir’s elected representatives as well as other stakeholders, stating that such engagement is essential for a durable and dignified resolution.
Er Rashid reminded the House of the 35 years of turmoil and hardship endured by the people of J&K and reiterated that their foremost aspiration is peace and stability.
In a significant humanitarian appeal ahead of International Human Rights Day on 10th December, Er Rashid said: “I appeal to all stakeholders to give peace a chance.” Referring to his incarceration, he stated with profound restraint: “At present, Tihar Jail is my home.” He announced that he would observe a one-day hunger strike as a symbolic gesture to highlight Kashmir’s unresolved pain and the urgent need for reconciliation.
AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said Er Rashid’s speech carried rare sincerity and moral clarity. “Even from confinement, he speaks with courage, compassion and an unwavering commitment to justice and peace. His appeal in Parliament today reflects the voice of every ordinary citizen of Jammu & Kashmir,” he added.
