Appeals to CM to Fulfil Promise on Regularization and Implementation of Revised Minimum Wages Act
Srinagar, October 27, 2025:
The Jammu & Kashmir Employment Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today held a peaceful protest at Kashmir Hut, Srinagar, in front of the Civil Secretariat, where the ongoing Assembly Session 2025 is taking place.
The protest was organized to remind the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the commitments made on the floor of the House during the previous session — particularly regarding the regularization of 61,000 daily wagers and the implementation of the Revised Minimum Wages Act across Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing the media, Sajjad Party, Joint Secretary of the EJAC, said:
- “We are not here for confrontation. We are here to remind the government of its own promises. Our demand for the regularization of 61,000 daily wagers and implementation of the revised minimum wages is just and long overdue.”
Speaking on the occasion, Wajahat Durani, Chairman, EJAC, reiterated the committee’s commitment to peaceful democratic means:
- “We appeal to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to honor the assurance given on the floor of the Assembly. Thousands of families depend on these daily wagers who have been serving the government for years without job security or fair wages.”
The protest at Kashmir Hut remained peaceful and disciplined, reflecting the EJAC’s resolve to pursue their demands through non-violent and constitutional methods.
