Eight people, including a policeman, who were present at a tea stall outside the Panzgam railway station near Awantipora in south Kashmir, narrowly escaped a terrorist attack on Saturday afternoon. Entering the tea shop, a terrorist fired several bullets. The entire incident was also captured in a CCTV camera installed there.
Police officials concerned said that personnel posted in Railway Police entered the tea stall near Panjgam railway station. During this, two youths suddenly appeared on the road there. Both were on foot. One of them was wearing a phiran. The young man wearing phiran signalled his companion to walk ahead, and himself proceeded towards the tea shop. Standing at the door of the tea stall, he fired five to six bullets intending to kill the policeman inside, but incidentally, the terrorists missed the target. The bullets did not hit anyone inside the shop. Eight people, including a policeman, were present inside the shop at the attack. The terrorist fled from there after firing bullets. It is being told that he has run towards Dogripora village adjoining Panjgam with his companion.
Shortly after the incident, a joint team of police and army started the siege of Panzgam and Dogripora and searched for the attacking terrorists. So far, there is no clue of the attackers. No organization has even claimed responsibility for the attack.
