On the directions of District Development Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan (KAS) and under the supervision of Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Khursheed and Mr. Bilal Rashid Mir (District Statistics and Evaluation Officer) Rajouri, the department of MSK (DLCW) under Ministry of Women and Child Development,GoI, organized door to door awareness programmes in various far flung areas of district Rajouri today.
*Dr. Anum Mirza (Women Welfare Officer, Rajouri)* along with all the district co-ordinators and various other members of her department visited Panchayat Godar Mohalla Mohra Pata, Mehra Kotedhara and Bathuni.
During her interaction with the people, she was being told about various pending needs of women from various welfare departments, regarding which she assured the proper disposal of their grievances and complaints.
This programme was organised to aware the women regarding their Health, Mentrual Hygiene and Nutrition.
While talking to the media *Dr. Anum Mirza* said that, “India is experiencing a movement towards cleanliness in the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in which proper waste disposal has been emphasised and dustbins are being placed at every possible nook and corner. Finally, girls are getting proper sanitary pad disposal facilities under their hands.Use of Sanitary pads has also been encouraged by Government through various steps. Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya campaign that ensures facilities like soap, space for changing, water availability and disposal facilities in every school. In one other step, good quality sanitary pads are being provided to adolescent girls in rural areas by ASHAs. But this is just a beginning, we have miles to achieve in this direction to ensure proper health and hygiene of women in our Nation”
Besides this the team also imparted awareness on SSY, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Ujjwala Scheme, SMAS, Aasra Scheme, various vocational centres which are being run in order to make the women independent and skilled. She also stressed upon the strict implementation of PC&PNDT Act and the proper understanding of the national campaign of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in order to ensure that the girls are being born to maintain the equillibrium and to lessen the unfortunate gap of sex ratio in district Rajouri.
*Dr. Anum Mirza* also stressed upon the dropout ratio of the girl students in schools which is a major issue and hurdle in the path of holistic development of nation. She said that every girl should get an equal opportunity and should be supported by their parents and society to become an independent woman who can both run the family and lead the nation as well.
