In support of Dr Ashwani Bhagat, fellow Doctors observed one-hour strike and suspended services in OPD and operation theatre in connection with a personal feud between DC Reasi and senior orthopedic surgeon, who is posted at District Hospital Reasi.
This endeavor was made in response to recent episode of arresting a duty-bound doctor, Dr Ashwani, an Orthopedician in DC Office at Reasi a few days back, in front of a mob violating all the norms, morals, ethics and law.
This amounted to humiliation and insult to the noble profession. Addressing the media, Dr Ashwani (victim) narrated the incident himself. He said that he was forcefully taken into custody for hours without any fault of his own thus, violating his rights as a doctor and as a citizen of India. He informed that doctors in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have gone on strike demanding strict action against the DC, Reasi .
He also warned that they will continue the strike till any strict action is taken against the DC, Reasi.
The Doctors highlighted the nuances of VIP culture to the authorities and insisted to make a Code of Conduct for the executive bodies (police and civil administration) to restrain them from ill treating and harassing the personnel of medical profession who treat and cure the ailing humanity.
