District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting to review the District Disaster Management Preparedness.
The meeting held at New Conference Hall Budgam was attended by ADDC Budgam Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, ADC Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, IAS Probitioner Bilal Mohhi-U-Din Bhat, ACR Budgam, Zaffar Shawl, ACD Budgam, Waseem Raja, CPO Budgam, Abdul Rasheed, all SDMs, Tehsildars, EX Ens of various departments and Executive Officers of Municipal Committees.
Emphasizing on the foolproof readiness, the DDC directed all the concerned departments to submit list of their available resources and demands and pendency in respect of preparedness without further delay so that the objective to ensure prompt and effective response towards disaster is mitigated to prevent the loss of public life and property.
For expenditures on the restoration works of various projects, schemes and government structures damaged due to various climatic disasters in recent past, the DDC instructed officers to submit their expenditure bills through proper SOPs for release of funds.
She also directed concerned to submit their lists of procurement of necessary gadgets and safety equipment for the prompt response towards various manmade and natural disasters.
The meeting also discussed procurement of safety equipment including, rubber gloves, long shoes, boats; wooden and motor boats, portable Gensets, helmets, wood cutters, waterproof jackets, recovery van, dewatering pumps, Blue Lumps, life-saving jackets.
The DDC also directed the concerned to conduct safety audits of buildings and government structures including hospitals and education institutions, mock drills and training for volunteers and masons for better disaster management system under the capacity-building.
Meanwhile, the DDC also took stock of restoration of essential services including electricity and damaged Water Supply Schemes and road connectivity affected due to recent snowfall across the district, and directed for an immediate restoration of essential services.
