Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today impressed upon the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to promote other regional languages in UT Jammu & Kashmir also in view inclusion of Dogri, Hindi, Kashmiri and English as official languages, a part from the existing Urdu, in the UT J&K proposed bill approved by the Union Cabinet for introduction in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament starting form 4th September 2020.
The cabinet decision will not only bring ease of Governance, but also ease of citizen participation in governance in UT. This was along pending demands of DBPS to declare Hindi & Dogri as a official language stands fulfilled by the PM and Union Home Minister, said Ved Parkash Sharma President of Sabha while interacting with media persons here.
He said that now Dogri Hindi can also be used as medium language in the official documents/work in UT many documents in the department could be conducted easily and also be understood by every citizen of UT knowing his own language.
Meanwhile, Dogra Sadar Sabha hailed Centre’s decision to include Dogri along with Hindi and Kashmiri, Urdu and English as the five official languages of Jammu and to one major oppression that was not only against vast Dogri speaking population of all religions/faiths but also threatened the very distinct recognition of the large Dogra population of J&K. They include Muslim Dogras in Pakistan occupied areas and those who are settled in many other countries of Gulf and Europe.
The last General of J&K State Forces Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal said that this was the biggest gift for all the Dogras in general and the members of this historic Sabha who took part in the vigorous struggle for the same in particular. “To speak in our mother tongue was our birth right” said Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Vir Chakra a distinguished veteran warrior of J&K.
