Anantnag, Dec 18: A Central Reserve Police Force jawan died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest while on duty at Anantnag Railway Station during the intervening night, officials said.

The jawan, identified as Lakhwinder Singh (55), son of Ajaib Singh and a resident of Punjab, was posted with the 90 Battalion, E Company, at the railway station. He reportedly lost consciousness while performing his duties and was immediately rushed to Government Medical College, Anantnag.

Doctors at the hospital, however, declared him brought dead. Initial assessments suggest that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Meanwhile, authorities have initiated the required legal formalities in connection with the incident.
