With 708 new positive cases reported during the last 24 hours, the coronavirus caseload in J&K has reached 30,034. In Jammu province, 102 new cases were reported while the number of fresh COVID patients in Kashmir Valley was 606.
Eleven deaths, all from Kashmir Valley, have been reported during the same period, taking the toll in UT 572. Forty-one patients have lost their lives in Jammu province, while 531 deaths have been reported from the Valley.
Moreover, 611 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals — 175 from Jammu division and 436 from Kashmir Valley.
As 45 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals, the recovery rate in Udhampur district has reached 90 per cent, highest in the entire UT.
“With another 45 COVID positive cases cured and discharged today, total persons cured so far in district stands at 602.
This district has achieved a 90% cure rate. Best wishes to the whole health team for stupendous effort,” Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Piyush Singla tweeted.
Out of total 664 positive patients in Udhampur district, 602 have been recovered so far.
According to the official bulletin issued on Wednesday evening, out of 30,034 cases, 6,965 are active, 22,497 have recovered and 572 have died.
The bulletin added that out of 8,22,574 test results available, 7,92,540 samples have been tested as negative.
Meanwhile, J&K government has evacuated about 3,29,220 residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
As per the official data received in this regard, administration has received 119 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 101,244 passengers while about 2,27,976 persons from other states and UTs, including 906 from abroad, have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
