Prayers continued to remain suspended as all the shrines, Jamia Masjid and main mosques remained closed since March this year in view of COVID-19 pandemic in Kashmir valley, where all religious and worship places are likely to reopen from August 16.
However, a good number of people offered congregational Friday prayers in small and interior mosques in violation of the order prohibiting any gathering in religious places in the valley in view of COVID-19 pandemic. This Friday people in number of Jamia masjids also offered congregational prayers without using loud speakers. However, proper physical distance was observed and all devotees had wear masks.
Administration, doctors and experts have reiterated the need to strictly follow guidelines, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and avoiding social and religious gathering to curtail the spread of COVID-19 cases in the valley.
