Corruption in Jammu’s Government School; students suffer.

A Government School in Karka area of District Reasi which was constructed 7-8 years ago had a shelter of tin which was broken few months after it was started. Corruption in a School, that is considered to be a Temple in India is an example of cheat and greed.

A villager said “The School was constructed 7-8 years ago. The contractor was Pritam Singh and the Headmaster was Sadique Sahab who has retired now. During construction, a proper shelter was ensured but then only a sheet of tin was kept on the walls for formality. After 2 months of School, the tin flew away due to strong winds. Till date, no new shelter has been constructed. The School is really far from the town. The playgrounds have thorns on them. Panches and Sarpanches visited the School, even we went to Reasi 1-2 times but no improvement has been done. My 2 kids study in this School but its different to manage.”

The School has only one room and a strength of 100 students. It’s hard to even think how the studies and students are managed, be it heavy rains or scorching heat. Poor education, infrastructure and lack of other basic facilities for students make trust issues. If the future of our country is treated this way, we shouldn’t wonder if its doubtful! But it has become a question- Is the future of India being treated properly?
