Consider long pending demands of MGNREGA employees: BDC Chairperson

REENA Thappa, Block Development Council Chairperson Block Dansal extended full support to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) casual employees who are on strike for the last 20 days demanding regularization, enhancement of basic salaries and a clear job policy.

In a statement issued today, the Block Development Council Chairperson said that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act employees comprised of Technical Assistant, Gram Sewaks and Operators are rendering their service for the last more than 12 years and the government has not shown its serious concern towards them.“Their demands are genuine and the government should consider their issues so that they get relief since they have badly suffered,” he said. The Block Development Council Chairperson urged the government to resolve the long pending demands of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act employees and regularize all Technical Assistant, Gram Sewaks and Operators working in Rural Development Department. “Employees working under the Center Government’s Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme are waiting for regularization since the last 10 years, and have been rendering their services without job security. Due to the uncertainty in their future in the department several employees have over aged and are suffering from mental trauma, she added. The Block Development Council Chairperson appealed to Lt Governor and Chief Secretary to intervene in the matter and have a sympathetic look towards the genuine demands and regularize all the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act employees.
