On the occasion of Bakra Eid, the J&K Administration has allowed the shops to open one hour early as their regular timings for two days. The shops can now open at 6 am instead of 7 am on Monday and Tuesday. The decision was taken to avoid gatherings in markets amid the awe of the third wave.
The customers can visit shops in the allotted time to purchase items to celebrate the coming festival.
In the scorching heat, maximum people avoid going out for shopping and only leave their houses during the evening for shopping, so we request DC Jammu to kindly extend the closing of shops by one hour so people can easily do shopping.

No Electricity in Anand Nagar Area for Past 6 Days, Residents Stage Protest
Last Night the residents of Lane 7 and 22, Anand Nagar, Bohri, protested against the PDD Department as the area hasn’t received electricity for the past seven days. According to the locals, whenever PDD fixes a new transformer, it either burns down or gets damaged within an hour. The residents said that they would continue their protest until the area receives electricity.
A resident complained that “the department had installed three transformers, and all of them got burnt down within one hour of installation. This is because the employees are not getting the main default, and only for formality they are installing the transformers. So the locals are compelled to leave the area and settle down in some other locality. We have contacted the Chief Engineer, DC and LG, but no one hears our problem”.
“I’ve called Rohit Kansal, and he asked me to text him my problem. But, unfortunately, he doesn’t have a little time to hear our problems. Despite suspending the AEE of the area, the government is not taking any step to solve our problem”, another local said.
The locals warned that if the government doesn’t take action immediately, we will block the road on Saturday.
