ASIF RASHID Srinagar, Dec 6: The Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) on Saturday confirmed that the JKAS Preliminary Examination will be conducted as scheduled on December 7, despite widespread appeals for postponement. JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary said that the exam “will be conducted as per schedule.” Earlier, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor issued a clarification on X, calling social media claims “misleading.” It stated that the age-relaxation file was received and returned on December 2 with a query on whether changes could be implemented so close to the exam adding that no response was received for four days. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had urged postponement, citing massive travel chaos and stress caused by the delayed age-relaxation decision. He said the situation had placed “unprecedented mental and logistical pressure” on candidates and appealed for a short deferment in the interest of fairness.

Israel Strikes Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Vows to Avenge Missile Attack on Hospital

Gulistan News Web Desk | June 19, 2025 As tensions between Iran and Israel continue to spiral, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is expected to attend a special meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul on Saturday. The urgent session, hosted by the Turkish government, comes amid growing concerns over Israel’s recent military actions against Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure, particularly the strike on the Khondab nuclear site near Arak. According to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will be held as a closed-door emergency gathering to address the ongoing conflict, which has entered its sixth day. The meeting will include representatives from all member states and is expected to focus on regional stability, civilian safety, and the implications of Israel’s latest strikes inside Iranian territory. The strike on Khondab has alarmed international observers. The Israeli military confirmed it had targeted a partially constructed heavy-water reactor at the site, located on the outskirts of Arak in central Iran. Military analysts say the reactor, once operational, could be capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium—providing Iran with an alternate path to nuclear weapon capability apart from uranium enrichment. While Israel has not provided specific details about the mission, it claimed that the strike was part of its ongoing campaign to neutralize threats stemming from Iranian military infrastructure. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also issued evacuation warnings in Farsi to residents of Arak and Khondab, urging civilians to leave the area for their own safety. The Iranian government has condemned the strike as an act of aggression and warned of serious consequences. Iranian media reports say civilian areas near the Khondab site sustained damage, although no official casualty figures have been released so far. The OIC meeting is expected to produce a joint resolution denouncing Israeli actions and calling for de-escalation in the region. Some member states are reportedly pushing for diplomatic outreach to the United Nations to seek broader international intervention. This latest development adds a significant geopolitical dimension to the conflict, as regional and global powers closely monitor the unfolding situation. With Iran and Israel continuing to trade missile attacks and accusations, the coming days will be crucial for diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing a full-scale war in the Middle East.
