The ongoing August Kranti Dharna of causal Labourers on Wednesday entered second days under the banner of J&K Agriculture Workers & Casual Labor Union (AWCLU), demanding regularization.

While talking to JK Newspoint, The protesting workers said that if their genuine demand of service regularization is not met with justice their families along with their children and old age dependent parents will come on road and join them in their protests. Their families are in terrible and miserable living conditions now due to malnutrition and non availability of proper diet, proper education and medical facilities. They can’t afford even two time meals for their children and dependent family members out of the meager monthly wages of Rs. 6750/-. They were simply saying that they are now in a do or die situation for this cause.

Meanwhile, President JKAWCLU Devinder Singh Bittu handed over one memorandum with a single point demand of their regularization to Inder Jeet (KAS) Director Agriculture Jammu. Director Agriculture Jammu also expressed his sympathies to the protesting casual workers and said that they are the frontline soldiers of Agriculture department and their only demand of getting regularized in their services after working for more than two decades is genuine and shall be strongly recommended to the competent authority.
