Bandipora , Jan 12 :  Border Security Force constable lost his life after a fire broke out in a barrack at a BSF camp in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late Sunday night, officials said.

The incident occurred at the 62nd Battalion camp in the Madar area, where flames engulfed a barrack and completely gutted the structure. The constable was inside at the time of the fire and could not be rescued. He was charred to death in the incident.

The body was later shifted to District Hospital Bandipora for medico-legal formalities and will subsequently be sent to his native place.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab. Authorities have taken note of the incident and further proceedings are underway.
