NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar reacted sharply, and launched a counter-attack accused BJP of deliberately fostering a “U-Turn Sarkar” narrative and actively working to undermine the newly elected government in the Union Territory. Dar pointed to what he termed a “broken promise” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had previously assured that delimitation would precede elections, followed by the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.

As the BJP’s cartoon humorously points out, folks are demanding things like free power, a complete election manifesto, and a dozen gas cylinders, but CM Omar Abdullah is just shown fleeing and climbing walls to get out of it.

“Unfortunately, no statehood has been given till date,”. He further asserted that “The BJP is unfairly targeting the elected government and effectively hindering the Chief Minister’s ability to govern.”

He stated that there is “confrontation” rather than cooperation between the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and the Chief Minister. He cited instances of “business files” approved by the cabinet but allegedly stalled at the LG’s secretariat, awaiting signature. “It’s easy to talk to the media; there is no cooperation, but I can say there is confrontation.”

He further stated that on Martyrs’ Day, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah faced barriers in accessing the martyrs’ graveyard. While initially prevented from paying tributes at Mazar Shuhada on July 13th, the Chief Minister eventually managed to reach the site on August 14th.
