Big Decision by J&K DGP Dilbag Singh

J&K Police Headquarters Srinagar Friday issued promotion orders of one Sub-Inspector (SI) of ministerial executive cadre and eight SIs of telecom cadre to the next rank.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that as recommended by the Departmental Promotion Committee and after a thorough scrutiny of the service records, promotion in respect of one SI of ministerial executive cadre and eight SIs of telecom cadre to the rank of inspectors had been ordered vide PHQ Order No 1621 of 2021 and 1620 of 2021 dated 25 May 2021.

It said that under these orders, MuhammafSaleem Sheikh SI of ministerial executive cadre has been promoted to the rank of inspector while eight SIs of telecom cadre who have been promote to the rank of inspectors were CharanDass, Rashpal Singh, Muhammad Yousf, Abdul Rashid, GhulamNabi, Balwant Raj, Abdul Rehman and Gul Muhammad.

The statement said that Director General of Police Dilbag Singh congratulated the promoted officers and their families and expressed hope that the promotion would serve as an inspiration for the officers to perform their duties in higher ranks with more dedication and zeal.

Meanwhile, to provide financial assistance to the families of the SPOs who have died due to illness or fighting against militancy while in service, the DGP sanctioned Rs 45 lakh as special relief in favour of dependents and legal heirs of the dead SPOs.

Militant associate arrested with arms and ammunition

Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant associate in the Rajpora area of Pulwama district.

An official told that a joint Naka laid by the teams of Pulwama Police, 44 RR and 183 Bn CRPF at Pachahar Rajpora Pulwama intercepted one youth found roaming in a suspicious manner.

He said that on being challenged, he tried to flee from the Naka and also attempted to fire upon the Naka party.

He added that the youth, however, was tactfully apprehended and during the bodily search one Pistol and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.

He said that the youth has been identified as Rahil Showkat Dar S/O Showkat Ahmad Dar R/O Drabgam Pulwama Rajpora.

He further added that the said youth had gone missing a few days ago and a missing report stands lodged at Police Station Rajpora.

To this effect FIR No 04/2022, U/S 307IPC.7/25 Arms act P/S Rajpora has been registered and further investigation was taken up, he said.

Carelessness Could Lead to Lockdown: Admin

On Thursday, authorities in Kashmir threatened to impose a lockdown if people didn’t take precautions to save themselves from Covid-19’s Omicron variant.

“If people do not take extra precautions and follow all directions for safeguarding themselves from the virus, lockdown remains the ultimate option”, Srinagar DM Aijaz Asad told media.

“We don’t want to suffer economically by imposing a lockdown. However, he added that people need to take appropriate and extra precautions to save themselves from getting infected with the virus”.

Asad said that covid-19 cases were rising continuously.

“There is no need to panic. Just follow the guidelines provided for taking precautionary measures. We are not in favour of imposing a lockdown”. However, Asad said the virus was changing colours, and nobody was hundred per cent sure that it would go away quickly.

He urged people not to “live in any misconception about the virus that the impact is mild. There are patients with comorbidities and elderly who are vulnerable”.

Bank closed after 4 staffers test positive

The Jammu Kashmir Bank authorities have ordered the closure of J&K Bank’s Narbal branch in Central Kashmir’s Narbal area Budgam after four of its staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

The bank has already closed various branches across Valley after some of the employees were tested positive for Covid-19.

A Bank official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the branch had been closed as a precautionary measure after four employees of the branch tested Covid-19 positive.

He said all those who may have come into contact with the infected employees have been asked to go for the Covid-19 test.

He advised the people to avoid visiting the branch till further notice.
