Better preparations ahead of predicted 3rd wave of Covid-19: Div Com Kashmir

The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today emphasized on making fool-proof preparations to combat predicted 3rd wave of COVID-19 efficiently in Kashmir.

Div Com said this while chairing a meeting of officers to review Covid-19 related situation in Kashmir.

At the outset, Mission Director NHM apprised the chair about the district wise current graph of positive cases, contact tracing, vaccination, declining of positivity rate, management of containment zones and other measures taken to ensure containment of corona virus spread.

Among others the meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners and CMOs (through videoconferencing), Director Health, senior doctors, Incharge CCRK and other concerned.

The Div Com stressed to enhance the capacity of oxygen generation and oxygen bed facility at all hospitals for better preparations to combat the third wave of COVID-19 efficiently.

He also said in the course of preparations, a well human resource be kept ready and training of staff be also conducted across Kashmir.

The Div Com further emphasized on bringing behavioural change in the society and all covid related SOPs particularly of wearing masks are followed as a habit to safeguard Valley people from getting infected during the third wave.

During the meeting, the Div Com stressed on intensive contact tracing of positive cases. He also emphasized on rigorous testing and vaccination is conducted in all districts.

He said that Covid-19 related SOPs should be followed in letter and spirit and people should not be allowed to move around public places without mask.

Top JeM Pakistani terrorist killed in Pulwama encounter

In view of the Pulwama encounter that took place on Saturday morning, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar informed that the topmost Pakistani terrorist has been killed in the encounter.

Kumar said, “Topmost Pakistani terrorist affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) Lamboo was killed in today’s encounter. Identification of the second terrorist is being ascertained.”

“Mohd Ismal Alvi alias Lamboo alias Adnan was from a family of Masood Azhar. He was involved in the conspiracy and planning of the Lethpora attack. He stayed with Adil Dar till the day of fidayeen attack, a viral video of Adil Dar had his voice in it”, said IGP Kashmir.

Kumar later congratulated the Indian Army and Awantipora Police for their support.
Earlier today, security forces gunned down two terrorists during an encounter here at Hangalmarg in the Dachigam forest area and recovered AK and M4 rifles from their possession, police said.

The joint operation, which was launched this morning, is still in progress.

Fish farm in Ganderbal damaged by cloudburst

A fish farm has sustained substantial loss due to a cloud burst in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, officials said on Saturday.

A private fish farm at Gutlibagh, in Ganderbal, was damaged due to the cloudburst and lost all fishes, they added.

However, there was no report of any loss of human life in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Private Fish Farm owners have appealed to the Government, especially Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production & Fisheries Department, and also Director Fisheries J&K to consider an Insurance scheme for private fish farms, to safeguard, against damages due to natural disasters, including floods.

Kulgam youth secures All India Rank 2 in IES-2020, LG extends good wishes

A youth from south Kashmir’s Kulgam has achieved a rare feat by securing a 2nd all India rank in the Indian Economic Service(IES) 2020 drawing appreciation by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.

LG Sinha while confirming the development on his official Twitter handle, congratulated Tanveer Ahmad Khan, a resident of Nigeenpora Kund area of the south Kashmir district on his achievement.

The LG said he has “always believed that the youth of J&K are inherently capable & full of potential”.

While wishing Tanveer a bright future, the LG said his feat will inspire and motivate the youngsters in the UT while also putting Tanveer’s picture on Twitter.
