After the closure of many things especially gyms due to increasing covid19 cases in Maharashtra, Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal reacted to this and asked that bars, theatres etc are opened with 50% but why not the gyms?
Taking a Twitter Paresh tweeted, “Trains, theatres and bars and restaurants etc. are allowed to remain open with 50% capacity, but gyms are not !!! What is the logic behind this? Is it a crime to take care of your health? Isn’t this an essential service?”
Amid the rapid increase of the covid19 cases in Maharashtra, the state government on Saturday introduced new rules which says theatres, restaurants and bars can be opened with 50 per cent capacity. While swimming pools, gyms, spas, wellness centres will remain closed.
48-hr-long weekend lockdown begins across J&K
In a bid to prevent the Covid-19 from spreading, the 64-hour-long weekend lockdown has begun across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday for the third straight week in the Union Territory.
The weekend lockdown was announced by the State Executive Committee (SEC) headed by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir following the surge in the Covid-9 cases in Jammu and Kashmir from the past couple of weeks.
All the markets, business establishments and other non-essential services remained closed from the afternoon erewhile public traffic was also off the roads.
However, policemen at different places were seen implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as a number of persons who were found without face masks were fined. The commuters without face masks were also being fined, witnesses said.
The lockdown will continue till Monday morning.
Pertinently, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has 260 Micro Containment Zones as a number of cases were detected from these localities.
Five fresh COVID deaths, 4,354 new cases in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded a single-day spike of 4354 new COVID-19 cases- 2914 in Kashmir and 1440 in Jammu-even as two new deaths were reported in Kashmir and three in Jammu division in the last 24 hours.
The case tally has risen to 424085 while the death toll jumped to 4,647-2,379 in Kashmir and 2,268 in Jammu, officials said.
A total of 374282 patients have recovered from the disease so far including the 5850 in the last 24 hours.
Active cases stand at 45156-11110 in Jammu and 34046 in Kashmir.
Covid-19: India reports over 2.51 lakh new cases with positivity rate at 15.88%; 627 deaths
India recorded 2,51,209 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 627 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Friday (January 28), the country saw 3,47,443 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 93.60 per cent, and total recoveries data reached 3,80,24,771.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have declined to 21,05,611 (5.18 per cent), the ministry data showed today.
The total death toll in the country is now at 4,92,327. The first death due to the COVID pandemic in India was reported in March 2020.
The daily positivity rate is at 15.88 per cent today. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 72,37,48,555 samples have been tested up to January 27 for COVID-19. Of these, 15,82,307 samples were tested on Thursday.
Meanwhile, according to data released by the health department, Delhi reported 4,291 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday and 34 deaths. As a result, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) in the national capital dropped to 9.56 per cent.
On Wednesday, the national capital reported 7,498 fresh COVID-19 cases and 29 deaths in a day as the positivity rate rose marginally to 10.59 per cent.
In view of the decline in fresh Covid cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority decided to lift weekend curfew and the odd-even system of opening non-essential shops in the city besides allowing restaurants, bars, cinema halls and theatres to reopen with 50 per cent capacity.
