Doubts about non-issuance of Ayushman Bharat cards as helpline numbers don’t work

Ayushman Bharat scheme that started in 2020 as an initiative by the Government to provide medical insurance to people worth Rupees 5-50 lakhs has doubts about the non-issuance of cards. The Scheme assured free treatment of people in 218 Hospitals in Jammu and overall 24,000 Hospitals in India. The scheme was inaugurated on 26th December, 2020 by PM Narendra Modi in Delhi and LG Manoj Sinha in J&K.
However, the scheme has created doubts about its existence. The helpline number 1800233554 provided by the Administration for queries doesn’t exist. Many senior citizens and others who enrolled themselves for the scheme haven’t received their cards yet.
Former NRHM Director, Bhupender Singh, few days back in a show on Gulistan News said that one lakh Ayushman Bharat cards would be made available each day and within 10-15 days every enrolled person would receive them.
A web portal named ‘Jk-igrams’ was launched the same day of Ayushman Bharat scheme where people register their queries about health and other issues. Through this portal, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha talks to people with queries once in a month. However, with a slow internet speed of 2g network all queries are not solved.
