Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and technology of Jammu today organised one day awareness programme on Mushroom Cultivation viz. formation of FPOs at village NUD of district Samba. The programme was attended by more than 30 farmers. The event was organized to improve the knowledge of farmers regarding the mushroom cultivations and to aware them about round the year cultivation of the mushroom.

During this programme, Dr. Amrish Vaid, Professor, Plant Pathology & Nodal Officer Mega Seed Project discussed the various techniques of raising the mushroom around the year. He impressed upon farmers that instead of seasonal activity, farmers should also go for cultivation of Dingri and Milky mushroom. He sorted all the problems and queries asked by the mushroom growers. The farmers were fully satisfied with the solutions of their problems while raising the mushroom.

Initially the programme was initiated by Dr. Vinod Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head with the introduction of importance and scope of diversification in agriculture. In his address, he stated that by cultivating the different types of mushroom in different part of the years the farmers can double their income very easily. His discussion was mainly focussed on increasing the farmers income manifold through establishing marketing linkages and branding of agriculture and veterinary products. He emphasised on formation of FPOs on Mushroom Farming and impressed upon farmers that they should demarcate different clusters on Mushroom Cultivation and join hands to form FPOs  with the technical support of KVK Samba.

Dr. Saurav Gupta, SMS, Plant Protection motivated the farmers of village Nud district Samba for growing the mushroom to rise their socio-economic status. In his address, he stated that by cultivating the different types of mushroom in different part of the years the farmers can double their income very easily.
