Delhi , Jan 7 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a high-level meeting in New Delhi tomorrow to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior civil and police officials of the Union Territory, and top officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies.
This will be the first major security review of 2026 for Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the discussions will focus on tracking down terrorists hiding in remote and mountainous areas, including foreign militants, and ensuring zero infiltration along the borders.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and Intelligence Chief Nitish Kumar are expected to brief the Home Minister. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, along with heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies, will also take part in the review.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of recent encounters and search operations in districts such as Kishtwar, Doda, and Udhampur. Officials said winter operations have helped foil infiltration attempts from across the Pakistan border, and the review will assess steps to sustain this zero-infiltration record while strengthening counter-terror operations across the Union Territory.
