Gaurav Gupta, Founder Jammu Athletes Club (JAC), and Vikram Gupta, Co-Founder, met the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Manoj Dhar, and requested that he allow him to allow people who have been administered both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine, to enter into the University Campus for the morning walk.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jammu Athletes Club is the only Club of Jammu, which has organized two editions of the Jammu Half Marathon in 2018 and 2019.
Gaurav, while deliberating with the Vice-Chancellor, said that the University of Jammu has a green lush campus and beautiful environment that generates new pollution-free air in the morning that is the best elixir for ensuring good health of the people, especially those who visit this temple of education early morning for a morning walk and other physical exercises including Yoga.
While appreciating the decision of the Jammu University to restrict the entry of morning walkers in the campus during the pandemic in the better interest of the people at large, Vikram said that the situation has totally changed today with the target of 100 per cent first dose of vaccination having been already achieved and a substantial number of people also having received the second jab.
Gaurav asserted that now it would be pretty safe for one and all if people having received both the jabs of vaccine are allowed entry into the University for Morning Walk, mainly because the JU campus is the only appropriate place in this area for availing the benefit fresh air in the early morning.
Assuring that the morning walkers will strictly follow the Covid-19 SOPs, Gaurav and Vikram emotionally appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to take appropriate decision for allowing morning walkers having received both the Covid-19 vaccine doses entry into the University campus for a walk in the morning.
The Vice-Chancellor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured early redressal of the demand put forth by the morning walkers within a week.

Jammu Policeman-cum-Rapper Booms in Reality Show, Leaves Judges Stunned
Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who fought terrorism are full of talent. In a show named Hunarbaaz on a private channel in Mumbai, the rap of police personnel Jeevan Kumar also stunned the judges.
The judges include actresses Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar and Mithun Chakraborty. Talent has reached from all over the country in the show. However, for several days before the show, the channel ran a rap account promo of Jeevan. J&K is proud to have Jeevan on this big show. Senior police officers are calling and congratulating Jeevan.
Constable Jeevan Kumar’s raps have been a new sensation on the internet media for two years. From top police officers to filmmakers, he has fans. Living in Chak Jarala, about 25 km from Jammu’s international border, Bishnah Jeevan’s father is a farmer, and mother is a homemaker. Jeevan told the judges that he is the first and foremost son of Mother India. It is my duty to protect it. Singing songs is his hobby. All the judges on the show liked his rap.
“I hope he will definitely make it to the next round. He eased his memories and said that the 30-second rap, which went viral first, has made me famous. In which he is telling about the flight of dreams. He said that my officers also encourage me, everyone likes it,” Jeevan said.
Over 300 docs, paramedics test positive in Jammu district
Over 300 doctors and the members of paramedical staff of the Health Department, who comprised the COVID-19 sampling teams in different locations in the Jammu district, have contracted the infection.
Officials said that even as the sampling had been intensified with the deployment of over 53 teams by the Health and Medical Education Department across the district, many of the team members who were involved in collecting samples of the suspected COVID patients from different places, also tested positive.
“Over 300 doctors and paramedical staff members of the health department were found infected with the virus,” said a senior official.
“We are deploying doctors and other medical staff in shifts. After seven days of isolation and medical care, the doctors and other members of the staff are joining duties. After they resume, others infected with the virus proceed on leave for seven days,” he added.
“Somehow, we are managing the sampling which is undergoing in an aggressive manner across Jammu district. We have also deployed six teams for thermal screening of the people at the venue of the main Republic Day function,” the official said.
These teams will remain deployed there till January 29. Besides, the official said, “We have deployed 19 teams at Jammu Airport and 24 teams at Railway Station to sample people on their arrival.” “Around 100-150 samples are collected from Jammu airport and 800 from Jammu railway station as a routine exercise,” the official added.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Jammu J P Singh, while speaking to the media, expressed concern over, what he said, “casual approach of the people towards the deadly virus.”
“Despite instructions, they were not reporting to the Chest Disease Hospital at Bakshi Nagar and DRDO Jammu for triage-test,” he said.
“The people with severe illness (comorbidity) and aged having symptoms of COVID19 should come to CD Hospital Bakshi Nagar and DRDO Hospital at Bhagwati Nagar for their medical check-up instead of getting treatment in home isolation,” he said.
He said that the aged and people with comorbidity should approach these hospitals soon after they developed symptoms or they contracted infection so that timely medical care could be provided to them. Another official informed that around 109 infected people were admitted to MCH, DRDO Jammu and GMC Jammu’s COVID care ward. “We have a capacity to admit around 817 infected people in these hospitals and accordingly, the capacity would be increased,” the official said asserting that the majority of the infected people were in home isolation, unlike last year.
Pertinently, the Jammu district has around 59 micro-containment zones while 15 locations were de-notified after the recovery of the infected people.
