New Delhi , Jan 9 : Akasa Air has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA), becoming part of the global grouping that represents more than 360 airlines worldwide.

IATA’s membership already includes major Indian carriers such as Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo and SpiceJet.

In a statement issued on Friday, Akasa Air said it secured IATA membership after successfully completing the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a mandatory requirement for airlines seeking entry into the association. The audit evaluates an airline’s operational management and safety control systems.

The airline said the membership reflects its commitment to global safety standards and best practices in aviation operations.
