The Jammu and Kashmir government has moved a step closer to granting age relaxation to job aspirants. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved the proposal and sent it to Raj Bhawan for final approval.

NC leader Tanvir Sadiq confirmed that the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has cleared the file and forwarded it for the Governor’s consent. Once Raj Bhawan approves it, a formal government order will be issued.

This move is a major relief for thousands of aspirants who have crossed the upper age limit due to recruitment delays since 2019. Repeated disruptions, legal issues, and changes in recruitment rules had prevented many candidates from getting a fair chance to apply.

After taking office, the Omar Abdullah government had promised to address youth unemployment and recruitment-related issues. The approval of age relaxation is seen as the first major step in that direction.

If Raj Bhawan clears it, the relaxation will apply to various recruitment categories, benefitting a large number of candidates who had become ineligible due to age.
