Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today paid a visit to ITI Women, Seer here and took a comprehensive review on the functioning of the institute.
During the visit, the Advisor took a detailed round of the institute and inspected the classrooms, labs, tailoring labs and other trade blocks besides reviewing other facilities of the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the faculty of the institute to give their best while imparting training to students and make them skilled as per the modern industrial requirements so as to make them employable. He asked them to equip the students with the knowledge and latest technologies so that they become fruitful for the society.
The Advisor directed them for pre-course handholding of students before admissions so that more students are attracted towards the institution. He impressed upon the officers to start orientation in schools and colleges regarding Skill Development courses offered in the ITI so that maximum students are attracted towards these courses.
On the occasion, the Advisor remarked that the Skill Development Department has a pivotal role to play in providing skill development to overcome the problem of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Asserting that education and skill building are the core means for empowering youth, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the concerned officers to work with utmost efforts to ensure empowerment of youth by way of imparting requisite proficiency.
During the visit, the Advisor was informed that this institute was established under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme and is imparting training to students in nine trades.
During the visit, several locals also met the Advisor and brought several developmental issues into his notice. The Advisor while interacting with them, assured them that all of their genuine issues will be resolved on priority.
Later, Advisor Bhatnagar visited Higher Secondary School (HSS) Pahalgam and took stock of functioning of the institute.
He inspected the classrooms, laboratories, library and other facilities of the institute. He directed the concerned officers to provide all possible help to the students being imparted education through online mode.
The Advisor also assessed the present status of vaccination among staff and students and directed the Principal of the institute for 100% vaccination of the staff as well as the students above 18 years and strict adherence to CAB for the timely resuming of classwork in the institute.
Govt determined to establish efficient transport system: LG
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched online services of Motor Vehicle Department and flagged off JKRTC’s new fleet of buses at Raj Bhavan.
While speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor observed that the Transport Department has taken many decisions in the last few months to facilitate the common people in availing various services which will improve their lives and have positive impact on J&K’s transport sector.
“We are determined to establish a safe, resilient and efficient transport system in J&K UT”, he added.
He said that the 12 services made online last year have brought great relief to the people. Services like duplicate registration to replacement of driving license are being provided to common people through a hassle-free process.
The Lt Governor, according to an official statement, observed that many rules have been simplified to provide paperless, cashless, faceless facilities to the people. It will address the concerns of thousands of citizens and contactless services can be availed without going to RTO. The various services of MVD made online and simplified include contactless application for Learners’ license, hassle-free quick registration process at dealer level, no inspection of newly built vehicles at RTO, besides others.
While flagging off the new fleet of buses, the Lt Governor said that it would provide better transport facilities to residents in far-flung areas and connect them to major towns of the UT and other states.
The new addition of trucks in the fleet of JKRTC will ensure timely transportation of food grains and other essential commodities to common man, he added.
Underscoring that full utilization of opportunities for economic growth is possible only with a robust transportation system, the Lt Governor said that the decision of augmenting the existing fleet of JKRTC with 226 new buses and 277 trucks was taken last year with an aim to connect the people of different regions in J&K and provide better transportation facilities to the traders and business owners. Listing four main forces behind the promotion of local businesses in J&K viz raw material, workforce, capital, and market, the Lt Governor said that the transporters provide a connection between these four.
Subsidy of Rs 5 lakh was also provided to transporters for replacing buses older than 15 years. An amount of Rs 1.75 crore was given under the scheme to strengthen the transport sector in J&K and make it modern, he added.
Under Mumkin scheme, the youth of J&K are being connected with sustainable livelihood opportunities and provided with commercial vehicles at zero margin money. Apart from bringing a change in their lives, this program will also strengthen the transport system of the UT, said the Lt Governor.
The Lt Governor said that providing various government services and facilities online is key to a transparent and corruption-free governance system.
The Lt Governor noted that many important steps have also been taken in last one year under the Road Safety Fund which includes 620 road safety awareness camps, equipments, motorcycles, and interceptor vehicles been given to traffic police for better road safety management.

Long Power shutdown in THESE areas of Jammu region
Chief Engineer, (Distribution) JPDCL, Jammu has informed that the power supply to Reasi, Pouni, Dharmari and some parts of Katra shall remain affected on September 26 from 8 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to SICOP Industrial Area, Hatlimorh Kathua shall remain affected on September 26 from 8 am to 10 am.
Likewise, the power supply to Pargwal, Channi Tanna, Rajpura, Bhalwal Bharat, DhalwalMiulu, Hamipurkona, BSF, Batera, Dabbin, Chorpur, Manyal, Dharmkhu, TirthTalab, GREF, Gumpal, Sua No. 1, Garkhal and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 27 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Billawar, Mandi, Phinter, Parnalla and adjoining areas of Baggan shall remain affected on September 27 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer (Distribution), JPDCL O&M Circle, Kathua has informed that the power supply to Govindsar, Railway Road, SC Mohalla, Chak Ram Singh shall remain affected on September 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 from 6 am to 12 noon.
Similarly, the power supply to DC Mohalla, Khalki Mandi, Upper Mandi, Shivalik Bal Niketan High School, Jatt Mohalla and Janglote shall remain affected on September 27, 28, 29 and 30 from 6 am to 10 am.
Likewise, the power supply to Chak Luden and Chak Sajjan shall remain affected on September 28 from 6 am to 10 am.
Wazir Sahab’s Murder Investigation Should be Paced Up: Transporters
In the ongoing investigation of the murder case of TS Wazir, the Transport Association of Jammu has demanded that the investigation should be paced up and the culprits should be behind bars.
While speaking to JK Media, a Transport Association Leader said, “we all know how Wazir Sahab has come forward for the people of J&K. For the past forty years, Wazir Sahab, without his benefit, has helped the transporters of J&K. No doubt Delhi Crime Branch is investigating the murder, but we want that the investigation should be paced up as people of Gurudwara Committee was having some issues with him and they’re behind his death”.
“Police has arrested Harmeet and is looking for Harpreet but do you think these people can murder someone with such fame? Behind his death, there are people who have significant connections. We request LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter”.
