Administration to cut 38006 trees to build High Court in Jammu, Climate Front volunteers protest

As the Administration decided to cut 38006 trees in Jammu to build the High Court, volunteers of the Climate Front India protested in the Raika Forest on Sunday. According to them, Government should take precautionary measures for healthy living rather than finding solutions after the loss.
“The topic of environment is non-serious in our country. This is because our leaders belong to the age group of 50-70 years and don’t have much life span left. It is us who’s going to face the black smoke. Government thinks about development by cutting trees and gives a compensation of afforestation but literally no trees are planted and no one even takes care of them. Previous High Court was also built after cutting trees and we all know what happened after that.” Director of the Climate Front said
“Places like Sidhra and Raika have pleasant weather and it will get ruined if the trees are cut. This will affect the air quality index of Jammu too. Jammu and Uttarakhand are eco sensitive zones and only sustainable development is required. We don’t want Jammu to become like Delhi. Today we are celebrating Raika Valentines and will hug the trees. Since hugging has become outdated, we have put red ribbons to support their existence.” He added
The volunteers of the Climate Front India wrote letters to the Administration expressing their love for trees and environment.
“Court in a judgment once said a tree’s value is calculated by it’s year of existence multiplied by 75,000. By this logic, here the trees’ value is 75,00,000. The new trees planted will take 100 more years to give the equal amount of oxygen. We have started today on valentines day and this fight will be a long one. We are sending our messages with love so that the Authorities do the development but take care of the forest areas as well. Also, we hope they will understand and agree with our thoughts.” said a volunteer
